American Style Rumba is characterized by the Latin motion (hip sway) arising from a knee being bent, as opposed to the straight leg style used in International-Style Rumba.  Rosa Delgadillo has over 20 years experience in teaching ballroom and Latin dancing. She has competed professionally and Pro-Am receiving many awards. Today, Rosa's passion lies more with sharing her vision and commitment to ballroom with the community at large, although she still competes in the pro-am division with her students in ballroom dancing. Joe Moncada, a native of El Paso TX, started his career performing with the El Paso Association for the Performing Arts. He has danced and performed with the NM Ballet Company, Ballet Theatre of New Mexico, Modern Dance Moving Company, People in Santa Fe, Baila! Baila!, and Ballet Folklorico Rio Grande. Joe has competed in the professional American Rhythm division in Ballroom Dancing for 10 years. He now shares his time between teaching his students to reach a higher level of competitive ballroom dancing and exhibition dancing.  The Baile program at the NHCC features a wide variety of teachers and dance styles!  Classes are free, but donations of $1 per class are encouraged. Classes are open to all ages and levels.  Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call 246-2261, ext. 189 or email shelle.sanchez@state.nm.us.
